Medior/Senior Data Scientist

As a Medior/Senior Data Scientist at ORTEC you play an important role in continuously delivering and expanding this impact. You will put your creativity and A.I. expertise to value and together with your enthusiastic colleagues, you will come up with working data science solutions for our customer’s business challenges.

We are experienced in areas such as: Predictive Maintenance and Asset Management, Operations and Supply Chain Analytics (e.g. sales and operations planning/optimization), HR & Customer Analytics (e.g. dynamic pricing, chatbots and customer churn), in markets like Retail, Energy, Transport, Post and Parcel, Finance and Insurance, Travel and Leisure. This has led to valued strategic partnerships with parties such as Shell, Fedex / TNT, AirFrance-KLM, Dutch Railways, Coca-Cola, Brussels Airport and Walmart.

Who you are

• You have at least 3 years of working experience in a similar role where you gained strong analytical skills and up-to-date knowledge of Machine Learning and AI

• You are currently living in the Netherlands and are able to fluently communicate in English (verbally and in writing). Command of the Dutch language is a plus.

• You combine an understanding of business challenges with strong modelling skills. This allows you to translate our customer’s real opportunities into tangible quantitative models that can suggest usable predictions and decisions improving our customer’s business.

• You have a vision on how to make data science work and you are able to communicate this in a simple, clear and convincing way

• You are proficient in at least one of the following programming languages: Python, R or Scala

• Your SQL knowledge goes beyond SELECT * FROM

• It’s a plus if you have experience with a cloud platform (Azure, AWS or Google Cloud) and/or experience with MongoDB, Hadoop and/or Spark

• Ability to provide on-the-job coaching to our juniors

• Ability to work in a team, and at the location of the customer

• Detail oriented, pragmatic, flexible, strong communicator, and a self-starter
